Our Animal Control Officer is David Vogt who works with the Police Department. The duties of the animal control officer are trapping animals, maintaining the pound, picking up lost and stray animals, maintaining animal licenses, keeping records of all animals impounded and owner release and/or adoptions.
To adopt a cat or dog the fee is $10.00.
To redeem an impounded dog or cat, there is a $10.00 fee, plus a confinement and boarding fee of $2.00 per day for each day or portion of a day that the animal is retained in the pound. Proof of rabies vaccination is required in order to obtain a City animal license in accordance to Municipal Code Chapter 205 Animal Regulations Article I Dogs in General Regulations Section 205.040 Impounding of Dogs and Article II Section 205.170 Impounding of Cats.
The city kennel is located on Alum Springs Road.
