Voter Registration
In order to vote, a resident must have identification, and register in the County Clerk's office in the courthouse. Registration
must be completed before 5:00 P.M., on the third Wednesday before the election. There are 2 voting wards in Versailles,
and polling locations are announced before each election in the local newspapers and on the radio.
Local Government
Versailles has a Mayor/Council form of government. The City Council establishes policy for all city services, adopts the
budget, and levies taxes. The City Clerk, City Treasurer, City Attorney, Superintendent Of Public Works, Wastewater
Commissioner, and City Board members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board Of Aldermen.

The Versailles Municipal Court is held on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. and is located upstairs at City Hall,
104 North Fisher, Versailles, Mo 65084. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Only Municipal Ordinance violations are handled through the Municipal Court. Certain offenses do not require a court
appearance and can be paid through the Violations Bureau.
